Jose Antonio Rosillo, also known as Toño Rosillo, was born in San Luis Potosi, SLP, Mexico on the 5 of July 1952. He studied Plastic Arts at the experimental workshop of the Instituto Potosino de Bellas Artes with Alberto Martinez as his teacher and has participated in other artist workshops, such as Santos Balmori and Angelica Villareal.

He’s actually a museographer at the cultural department of the state’s Government in SLP. He’s a tradition promoter and a “santero” –a person who paints or works with religious images- . He works essentially with the images of saints and virgins, and enriches them with the Collage technique.

He has participated in many collective and individual expositions, mainly in Mexico and the United States, amongst them the itinerant exposition called "Passion for Frid" from 1992 a 1994.

Two of his art works were as well selected for the permanent collection of the Mexican Art museum in Chicago, USA, since 1999. Besides, his work has been recognized by his conception, investigation and assembly in many other expositions of object-art and religious-art of the XVIII, XIX and XX centuries.
